We provide hands-on opportunities for locals to develop valuable skills that boost their employability. Through caring for rabbits, volunteers gain experience in animal welfare, teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving—skills that help them enter or re-enter the workforce.
💙 Mental Health Support
For many, Southern Cape Bunny Haven is more than a rescue centre—it’s a refuge. Our space fosters a sense of belonging, eases loneliness, and provides a therapeutic environment where people can heal. The simple act of caring for a rabbit can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. By building community connections, we also help to reduce the risks of addiction and crime.
📚 Educational Outreach
Children are the future, and we are committed to nurturing compassion from a young age. We conduct workshops and school visits to educate young minds about the importance of kindness to animals, responsibility, and the role of rescue organisations in society. These efforts help shape a generation that values and protects the most vulnerable.
🩺 Veterinary Training
Veterinary students gain hands-on experience at our haven, learning essential skills in rabbit care under the guidance of experienced professionals. From routine check-ups to critical procedures like spaying and neutering, we help equip future veterinarians with the knowledge and expertise they need to care for rabbits—a species often overlooked in veterinary training.
🚨 URGENT APPEAL – TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Without your donations, we cannot expand and will not be able to fulfil our charitable aims. The SPCA visited today and has given us a very short deadline to expand our facilities—or face devastating consequences.
💔 30 rabbits will be euthanised if we cannot act in time. 💔
